VIVID / Coaches / Free practice

They tried accountability. What needs to change?

Find the decision behind the pattern. Practise a conversation that shows how your coaching would help before you explain the offer.

Two or three decisions. No account needed. Leave with a conversation card you can edit and keep.

“I know what I should do. I just don’t follow through. I don’t want clients to see me as unreliable.”

Fictional teaching example. People, dialogue and product details are invented for practice.

Your role: You lead an enrollment conversation for a fictional six-week coaching program.

What you know going in
  • The fictional offer uses one scheduled weekly session, review of a specific event and a small between-session experiment.
  • It is not on-call advice, therapy or a guarantee of business results. These facts describe the practice scenario, not the VIVID course.

A worked conversation

  1. Prospect

I block time, then a client messages and I drop everything. I don’t want them seeing me as unreliable.
  2. Coach

What had you promised the client about when you would reply?

Direct question establishes the actual commitment before interpreting the Identity thread.

  3. Prospect

Within one business day. I keep treating that as right now.
  4. Coach

And what do you imagine happens if you use the time you promised?
  5. Prospect

They’ll doubt me. But nobody has said that; I’m the one making the rule stricter.
  6. Coach

Would it help to look at Tuesday’s message and separate the promise from the urgency you felt?

Demonstration mode stays bounded: one episode, a clear purpose and the prospect’s permission.

  7. Prospect

Yes. I could have finished the work and answered after lunch without letting them down.
  8. Coach

What would that let you protect that the current pattern keeps interrupting?
  9. Prospect

The work I keep saying matters. I’d still be reliable, just not permanently available.

The prospect supplies Felt Outcome and Identity. The coach does not impose a label.

  10. Coach

That is the kind of decision we would review. In this six-week example program, each week we examine one event, try a small adjustment and review the result. It includes a scheduled weekly session, not on-call client advice. Would you like to inspect that structure and the commitment before deciding?

The paid process has an observable mechanism and a clear scope. This is an invented coaching offer inside the practice, not a description of VIVID’s course format.

A fresh situation

Try the idea somewhere new

A new prospect says they rewrite proposals repeatedly because “a rough draft makes me look careless.” They have tried deadlines, but restart whenever a colleague could see the work.

Which next question best investigates the mechanism behind the repeated editing?

Task-specific feedback; successful choice does not establish coaching skill or enrollment results.

Make it yours

Practise the words before the call

Say your next question aloud once. Listen for whether it invites the buyer to correct you. Then compare it with the worked example.

Read silently or say it aloud. This page does not record you. Keep real client names and private details out of your practice notes.

One conversation is a starting point.

Build the method around the conversations you actually handle: structured lessons, annotated examples, practice labs and resources you can return to before a call.
